Albert W. Peck Civil War reminiscences, 1862-1865.

Dictated or typed by Albert Peck in 1906, the pages recall his service as captain with the 17th Connecticut Volunteers, Company D, during the Civil War. He was in the militia in Bridgeport, Connecticut, before answering the call for soldiers in 1862. A significant portion of the memoir relates his involvement in the battle at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Albert W. Peck served as an enlisted man and officer in Company D, 17th Connecticut Infantry Regiment from 1862 to 1865. His unit served in Virginia until 1863 and was engaged at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, losing heavily in both battles. In August, 1863, the 17th Connecticut was transferred to South Carolina, where they engaged in raids at Johns Island.
